The support staff at Marketplace Animal Hospital is made up of a wonderful team of
Receptionists, Veterinary Assistants, and Registered Veterinary Technicians.
Receptionists
Erika
Erika joined our team in 2015. She spends most of her free time with her kids but loves weekends with friends at the winery. She enjoys cheering on her local sports teams as well as her kids’ baseball and volleyball teams. Erika has an adorable mini australian shepherd named Blu and her very first cat, Simba, a Siamese mix.
GUILTY PLEASURES:
White cheddar Cheetos, blasting country music, and shopping for shoes
Cindy
Cindy joined our team in 2023. She was born and raised in Denver, CO but moved to Kansas in 2019 to be closer to her mom and brothers. Cindy loves spending time with her husband and kids. She has a chihuahua mix named Aspen.

Bex
Bex joined our team in 2021. Originally from Pennsylvania, he made the long drive down to Kansas in 2020 searching for independence. He loves spending time with his partner and their first time cat, Alcor. When not at work, you can catch Bex at the park watching the local wildlife.

Jackie
Jackie joined our team in 2014. She and her husband live with their rescued maltese dog, Dorothy, and a rescued grey tabby cat, CeCe. Dorothy is quite the traveler and has gone with her humans to Texas, Oklahoma, Branson, MO, Western Kansas, and Colorado.

Haylee
Haylee joined our team in 2020. She has a degree in Wildlife Ecology and loves working with animals. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. When she is not at work, she is with her dog, Mario and her cat, Coco.

Alyson
Alyson joined our team in 2023. She grew up in Kansas City area. Alyson went to UMKC and was a member of Kansas City Ballet many years ago. She spent 30+ years being a Medical Assistant and is a mom of two girls and grandmother of 3! Alyson and her husband rescued a Cavapoo after they returned from Hawaii in 2022. That’s how Kailaini got her name.
Guilty Pleasures: Grandkids activities and sitting in her sun room watching birds and butterflies
Veterinary Assistants
Cory
Cory joined our team in 2022. He grew up in Shawnee and attended K-State University. Cory has 2 cats: Twilight and Eclipse and a Rat Terrier named Bambi.

Shannon
Shannon joined our team in 2022. She lives with her husband, son, and golden retriever, Tater Tot. Shannon graduated with a Maple Woods Veterinary Assistant certificate in 2017 and has spent the last 5 years working in a soft tissue and orthopedic surgery setting. She loves to watch movies and make things out of wood or crochet. As a family they spend their time exploring the city and outdoors and love to travel all over the country whenever they can.

Nick
Nick joined our team in 2021. Born and raised in Jefferson City, Missouri, Nick moved to Kansas after attending Lincoln University in 2016, and later the University of Central Missouri in 2018. He is currently working toward his Bachelor’s in Wildlife Biology. Nick has been adopted by a
strappingly handsome young ragdoll cat named Obi Wan Kenobi, and a beautiful little leopard gecko by the name of Pepper Potts. Nick enjoys the great outdoors, and everything in them,
and his hobbies include hiking, herping, camping and fishing.

Alanna
Alanna joined our team in 2023. She is originally from Charleston, South Carolina and moved to Kansas in 2023. Alanna is going to school to become a veterinary technician and loves working with animals. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and reading.

Melanie
Melanie joined our team in 2021. In her free time she likes to travel whenever she can, or just explore the outdoors around home. She also likes to spend quality time at home with her senior black lab mix, Kayla and her two cats, Fergio and Mew. Melanie has been working in the veterinary industry for 3 years and is especially passionate about providing comfort and care to anxious pets.

Alex
Alex joined our team in 2021. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and thrifting. Alex currently resides in KC and her 3 year old rescued black lab, Leon, is her whole world. She has been caring for animals in a professional setting for the past 4 years and has dreams of opening her own nonprofit rescue one day.

Olivia
Olivia joined our team in 2023. She was born in Springfield, Missouri but has grown up in Johnson County. She loves reading, spending time with friends and family, thrifting, and doing anything involving the outdoors. Olivia has a passion for caring for animals, and hopes to go on to school to become a veterinary technician. She has two dogs, Staley and Theo, and her rescued fur baby cat, Walter.

Nichole
Nichole joined our team in 2024. She grew up in Georgia with her parents and three siblings. She started working in the animal health industry in 2019 as a kennel technician. At home, Nichole has 3 wonderful fur children - 2 dogs named William and Jericho, and a cat named Copa Cabana. When she's not spending time with her animals, Nichole loves to be outside reading or paddleboarding.

Registered Veterinary Technicians
Reb
Reb joined our team in 2020. Originally from Prince Edward Island, she has been in the Johnson County area for 17 years. She graduated from Brown Mackie College in 2016 with a vet tech degree and in 2017 passed her licensing exam. Her whole life she’s had a passion for all animals and being a voice for them. Reb is also an artist and occasionally does commission work. In her free time you can find Reb playing video games, especially with her partner Griffin. They have two very spoiled cats, Topper and Dunkin, that are Reb’s whole world.

Watching horror movies, Lady Gaga, and The Office trivia tournaments
Erin
Erin joined our team in 2022. She worked for 7 years in emergency and critical care medicine. Erin graduated from the Maple Woods Veterinary Technology program in 2016 and has loved animals her whole life. She currently has 2 dogs she adopted from her school program, Agent and Classified. Erin loves hanging out with her friends and family and renovating her house in her off time.
GUILTY PLEASURES: Pasta, buying more books before reading the books she has, and crocheting
Topher
Topher joined our team in 2024. He is Kansas born and raised, living in the state his entire life. Topher’s first ever job was with Marketplace back in 2010. In 2014 he left to get his Bachelor’s in Animal Sciences at Kansas State University and then his Associate’s in Veterinary Technology at Maple Woods, passing his licensing exam in 2018. Since then he has worked a few years in general practice, 5 years in nutritional research and still currently works part time in emergency medicine. In his spare time, he loves gaming, hiking, and fishing. He has three dogs, Bellatrix, Adeline and Finnley and a loving husband, Marcos.

Jaime
Jaime joined our team in 2020. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, has lived in Kansas, Maryland, and Oklahoma, and re-settled in Kansas with husband Jeff and their 3 children in 2012. Jaime graduated from Penn State University, then became a RVT after studying at Tulsa Community College. She is a foster volunteer for Wayside Waifs. Jaime currently has one WW “foster fail” dog, Dobby, two adorable grand dogs, Larry and Indie, and a new schnauzer rescue, Queenie.

Veterinary Technician
Brittany
Brittany joined our team in 2022. She has worked in the animal field since she was 15. She previously worked in shelter, holistic, and Emergency/ICU medicine. Brittany graduated from Brown Mackie College in 2014 with an Associated degree in Animal Science. She enjoys spending time with her family, being a mom, and going to the lake with her dogs. Brittany also has 2 cats who help with her pyrography hobby and creative DIY projects.

Practice Manager
Brad
Brad joined our team in 2024. He was born & raised on a family dairy farm in NE Kansas. Brad played football at Washburn University while pursuing a degree in Psychology. He later received his BS in Human Resources Management from Friends University, then an MBA from Baker College, followed by another graduate program from the University of Michigan. With the preponderance of his 35 years in HR & Operations spent in healthcare taking him across the country and back with companies ranging from small to the Fortune 10, Brad returned home to Kansas in 2011 to become one of the founders of a leading home infusion company. He and his wife Nancy have been married 40yrs. They have a daughter, Ashley, in heaven. The light of their lives is their 10yr old grandson, Leo, who keeps their calendar booked with basketball, soccer, and football games. Although their nest is currently without any 4-legged family members, they’ve had a myriad of dogs and cats (and even a few birds along the way!) grace their lives. After having said goodbye to a beautiful, older rescue named Lady, they are still in that "period between goodbyes".
GUILTY PLEASURES:
Weekends at the lakehouse with the wife & grandson, ANY and EVERY opportunity to get on the Harley and find a quiet, 2-lane blacktop to a cup of coffee with a great piece of homemade pie, and video games with his grandson
Office Manager
Julie
Julie joined our team in 1997. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician but primarily works behind the scenes in the office. Julie loves to travel anyplace warm and especially enjoys being at the beach. She spends most of her free time with friends and family and would be a crazy cat lady if her husband did not limit the household to 3 cats.
